Imagine if you will, a group of moms, grandmas, and maybe a dad or two. They are sitting around a room talking, laughing, sharing stories of success, moments of frustration and pride. They are learning and asking questions, they are teaching and listening. They are advocating.
They are like a family in a way. A family connected by the complexities and confusion of a child affected my Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS). Those of you who know–it’s hard. CAS is a serious neuromuscular speech disorder in which these bright kiddos find it extremely difficult to get their thoughts from their brain and out of their mouths. It’s not that they don’t want to talk (they really do), they just can’t.
Consider joining us for a group designed and dedicated for people like you–people who care about a child with apraxia. You’ll be facilitated by a former child psych R.N. and full-time “apraxia mom” (that’s me) in a comfortable environment where you’ll feel like you are spending time with friends you’ve known forever. We meet for five consecutative weeks–in the evening–talking about things most important to the world of apraxia: your apraxia story, the definition of CAS, coping with it, how to help your child at home, and finding resources and networks to aid in your journey.
It’s helpful, it’s empowering, and most of all–it’s free! You really can’t afford to pass up this valuable resource. And who knows…there may even be cookies.
