Cute & Simple: Stepping Stone Project

If you are looking for a fun family activity this weekend look no further than your backyard.  Sort of.  Jim, the girls, and I created this super-easy garden stepping stone on Sunday morning not so long ago.  You can, too!  For about $12.99 you can pick up one of these all-in-one kits at your local craft/hobby store like Michaels (maybe even Target?) and make a family keepsake.

You need just a little time and a just a little creativity to make a lasting momento of your warmer spring and summer days.  We chose to make our stepping stone reflect our values and family mission of “growing together.”  Each symbol on our stepping stone represents a member of our family…Kelly has always been our “little bug,” so that would be the ladybug.  Kate’s our fluttering butterfly, Jim is our tree providing us with vital nutrients, and that’s me–the sun bringing warmth and joy (or so Jim says, and I can only hope).

We talked about making these again in the spring.  Only this time, we’ll let each member of the family create their own.  It will be fun to see how everyone decorates their stone in their own unique style.

Now if only that warm, sunny weather would last…Sigh.
